Springtime is My Favorite Season

by Martha Fogal

Spring is a wonderful time of year. Everything comes awake from a long sleep. The streets are cleaned from all the sand, salt and dirt on the sidewalks. Then the birds and flowers come back to us. We start to wear lighter coats and no hats. Some of us get our hair cut so we don't have to carry so much weight around with us. We can also wear our running shoes. We think of putting our lawn chairs out on the balcony and are able to put our plants outside. Soon I will like to look at all the spring rain showers and good sunshine. Soon we will have summer. Then we are able to have some nice flower buds. We are able to go swimming in the lakes and are able to go for some nice hikes. Next we have autumn. The leaves change color, red, yellow, orange, rust plus two-tone leaves. Then we have bare trees and no more nice flowers and no more swimming or long hikes. Winter comes overnight with a lot of snow and we have to get busy shoveling the show that has just fallen. All the hills are full of little and big kids, and the big people walking in the fresh snowfalls. The kids zoom down the hills. Then we have spring again. Then we get my bike ready. I love to ride around town. I have been to the mall and the grocery store. I take little trips. I have to for my husband and I like to go on the trail here in Midland, Ont.
