Story of the Week

June 30, 2003

This week, we have a story written by Linda Ceil Harper, from Langley, BC. Linda is 27 years old and in search of a soul mate. She knows that already there have been a lot of harrowing experiences in her life, yet things work out in the end. She has a goal to publish a journal around her life in Langley. It is both the enjoyment of writing, and also a desire to re-enter post-secondary that motivated her decision to upgrade. Linda's interests are very attached to the arts, such as printmaking, silk screening, and also recyclable art projects.

I have had many encounters within the city that used to be called Langley Prairie. It is now a growing city called Langley. There has been a lot learned about humanity and also about myself during my four-year journey foot printing the boundaries of Langley. My brief encounters on Langley streets have reinforced how important it is to always have in life, a positive manner, no matter what the situation. One of the places I have met interesting characters is the Burger King in Langley. I thought to myself once that Sheldon was the Burger King Langley location's Einstein. He could be a politician; however, he's too smart to choose to be one. He might be able to help NASA or even teach math to university students. I must admit that I admire that he is just satisfied with the life he leads among his collection of math and time travel books. Sheldon, who is occasionally caught laughing about his name was intended to be Cleveland, has encouraged and also continues to be an influential person in my life as a Burger King companion.

Over the years, we have spoken about an array of issues that affect society, future, past and present. Although there is no possible way either of use could solve the problems of the world, it reminds me that any problem that is faced by man or self can have a positive outcome. At the same time, there is that sense that I live true artist life style or I am a theorist by occupation. These sessions have taught me how big life really is. That, like the theory of infinity, anything is possible and most days, "today just got better."

There is not one hundred per cent sincerity in our encounters. The most remembered adventure that has occurred happened the first day of spring, 2001 when there was a small snow blizzard. The wind and snow had blown most of the day when we decided to head half through town to Tim Horton's-cahooting and raving about how we were being true Canadians. Sheldon has always taken the time to point out the constellations in the sky in a few night sessions in the biggest conservatory in Langley, a park where a small school sits. I will always enjoy Sheldon and the wealth of information he has acquired. Sheldon may have educated himself in history, math, astronomy, science, politics, and philosophy. It is only my wish upon a star that more of mankind would recognize his scholarly tendencies and laugh that his name was almost Cleveland. I will continue to take the time to listen to his wealth of knowledge that motors from his mouth at the speed of light
