Story of the Week

September 1, 2003

This week, we have a poem written by Tammy Wilson, from Edmonton, Alberta. Tammy is a student at The Learning Centre in Edmonton. She has been learning to do math, reading and spelling. She is doing very well in reading. She likes to volunteer in the community to have something to do and to help others.

The Co-op and I

by Tammy Wilson

Helen brought me to the old
court house I don't remember what door.

I was nervous because I didn't know nobody.

We went to the old courthouse to
join the learning centre.

The courthouse was torn down so
The Learning Centre had to move to the YMCA.

We came to this building.
We were downstairs in a dark room.
It was so crowded we could hardly move.

The co-op asked us to move into a big bright room. I like working in our classroom.

Everybody who comes into our
classroom says how bright it is.

We thank the Boyle Street Co-op for
this classroom.
