This week, we have a story by Virginia Runighan, from Morell, PEI. Virginia is one of the students of the Morell Learning Center (Institute of Adult and Community Education - Holland College). She completed junior high and high school by coming to the Morell class over a five year period. A lot of time was missed due to working night shifts. Virginia is married to Robert and has three children, Amanda, Chad and Candace. Virginia received her high school diploma one month before her oldest daughter received hers.
School these days is a lot more important than it was when I was in school. I dropped out when I was in grade 9, but a few years ago I finally got the courage to return. Thinking about going back was very scary, but I knew I had to do it. I got the nerve up to call and when I talked to Anne she made me feel at ease and that I could do it. It has been difficult by times trying to work, house work, and family, but now I know it can be done. It is such a great feeling to know that I have completed my grade 12 education and I am very proud of it.
