This week, we are launching five stories written by students from Midland, Ontario. You can read some of their stories as well as hear them, with the audio player.
These students are all enrolled at the Midland Area Reading Council (MARC) . This year, MARC is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It is a community-based literacy program, doing mostly one-to-one tutoring, and some small group teaching as well as computer courses. MARC serves mainly Basic level students 1 & 2.
The following story was written by A. Marie Charlebois. Marie has been tutored for about five years now, and she has come a long way. She has a fascination for all things fantastical and occult, and is currently enthralled with the Lord of the Rings movie.
Little feet running through the forest.
We play in the night.
The moon is our friend, and our light.
The sun is our enemy.
We lived on earth for a long time.
When the world was new.
We lived through the centuries.
We watched the world go on.
We saw our friends come and go.
We are the children of the night.
