This week, we are launching twelve stories written by students from The Learning Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. As a special event you can read some of the stories as well as hear them, with the audio player.
The Learning Centre is a community-based adult literacy and education program in Edmonton, Alberta. Whether we are drawn to the Centre to learn to write, to tutor reading, to facilitate, coordinate or do research, learning is at the centre of what we do.
The following story was written by Marilyn Dymchuk, from Edmonton, Alberta. Marilyn has lived in Edmonton for 33 years. She got married in 1986, and she has three children. She is going to The Learning Centre to learn more reading, writing and math.

My family went camping in the month of August. My kids said.
"Mom and Dad, it is cold!" I said,
"Well then open the tent."
So the kids did what they where told to do. Then I found out why they said it was cold.
"You know why we are cold? Because it is snowing out there."
We told them to stop talking like that.
"It is August."
So we got up and looked outside.
"Kids, you are right. It is!"
"Kids if you are cold, get up. Get you're sleeping stuff. Go to the car and keep warm. Dad and mom will put the rest of the stuff away. Then we will go home, OK".
