August 12, 2002

The following story was written by Heather Paquette, from Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. Heather was recently enrolled in literacy classes at Keyano College in Fort Chipewyan.

A Story

by Heather Paquette

People begin to set up their tents and teepees and lights outdoors. Campfires are burning. Moose and deer meat is cooking in their fry pans. Bannock is in another pan. The little ones are running off to bed. The sun is falling. Family and friends sit around the campfire telling jokes and meeting new friends. As the sun falls more into the water people get up and start dancing around the fire.
