The following story was written by Cheryl Jollymore, from Woodstock, Ontario. Cheryl takes literacy classes at Woodstock and District Developmental Services. She is 54 years old and has been married to Warren Jollymore for 21 yrs. Cheryl and Warren really like the people a lot at their church, as they are very friendly & down-to-earth. Cheryl and Warren are Volunteers for the Wish Kids Foundation, and members of A.R.C. INDUSTRIES. Cheryl also makes jewellery, paint by numbers, rug hooking, plus embroidery, sewing and quilting. She has two cats named Smoky and Sparkles and a dog named Tippy. She does word essays and has a pen pal. Cheryl also belongs to the Women's Auxiliary at the hospital.
Hi, my name is Cheryl Jollymore and I am a volunteer for the Wish Kids Foundation. It is my little children who have cancer. The Wish Kids also takes the children to Disney Land. The children really enjoy themselves immensely. The volunteers are for helping others in the literacy program. The volunteers also set goals for students. We are selling cookbooks for $10.00 each and ½ goes to New York and the other ½ is going to get a new laminator. Dianne Ward is at teacher from the Thames Valley School District and she also helps out A.R.C. for students who need help. We would like to thank all the volunteers for all the work and stamina you put into it and being there are a real treat to us all. The volunteers are hard working people and they should be applauded for all of their work being a grateful person to be around. The volunteers do more thing for other people and you'll never ever hear about it, that's why I am writing my essay to let them know that they are appreciated a lot more than they'll ever know from all of us in the literacy program.
Literacy means a lot to me, as I wouldn't have known how to do word essays and done all the different things in life, if it weren't for the Literacy program. I hope and pray that everyone feels the same way about the volunteers as I do. I feel that they are very important people like us and they teach us new things all the time, which is very exciting for us. Volunteers are extremely different from night to day, as they are always at your beckon and call, which is nice for us. I hope you all have enjoyed reading this as I have writing it for you. Thank you and God bless you all.!!
