Story of the Week

October 7, 2002

The following story was written by Joey Cardinal, from Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. Joey was recently enrolled in literacy classes at Keyano College in Fort Chipewyan.

A Tall Tale!

by Joey Cardinal

Back in the day when there was a man and the six shooter and trouble was a thing that was everywhere. Everyone was standing on their forefeet and scrambling to the door because they were scared of the six-shooter Jester because he was the fastest gun raised in the town of Bloodstream.

Why is it called Bloodstream? The blood used to flow like a stream in the town and every breath you take seemed like your last.

But the man with the pouches was the man to kill six-shooter Jester!

When the town heard that the man was looking for the six-shooter, the town hid for a long time until they heard the shooting stop. The man with the pouches was the man who killed the six-shooter Jester.

The town people ran to the man and said, "He was nothing." And he said "whatever" pass me my liquid from my pouch. But the six-shooter was really not dead yet. Six-shooter went to the saloon and the man with the pouch was buying rounds for the town and six-shooter shot at the man with the pouches, while jumping sideways then...

To be continued... can you plan an ending for this story?
