Story of the Week

February 5, 2001

This story was written by Gail, from Kelowna, BC. Gail has certainly embraced the joy of learning. She says that attending lessons is the best part of her week, and despite some health problems, has made excellent progress. Gail has a deep love and understanding for all wild creatures, so most of her articles reflect this interest. She enjoys, and has become quite proficient in, researching materials as a basis for her writing. You will enjoy her findings and observations on birds and animals.

Single Parenting

by Gail

Being a single parent of two special needs children is a hard job to do. Parenting is a very hard task for any single mother when it comes down to making ends meet. But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the whole world.

I enjoy learning new things about my children and with them; I enjoy being with them as well. They mean everything to me. I am learning some more parenting skills, like how to handle bad situations. I am watching a video to learn how to communicate with them. We also do lots of things together.

Being able to read to your kids and to take your kids places is the best part about being a parent. I enjoy my children's company, playing games with them, taking them for walks in the park and renting movies. I love being a parent and learning how to be a better parent.
