This poem was written by Michela Henseler, from Chipman, NB. Michela had recently been taking literacy classes at the Minto Community Academic Services Program (CASP). Although her written tests were often poor, her oral tests were excellent. This was a sign that she had learning disabilities, and she was later diagnosed with two forms of dyslexia as well as ADHD.
The pitter patter of the soft rain
Brings me back to that place
Where I live and breathe
My home.
That solemn place of dancing droplets
Like thunder they thrash
Like a bird they glide
Sown over the roof into the ground
Never before has such a sweet sound
touched my eavesdropping ears
Such a melodious aroma
Surrounds me
Shifting slowly into bottomless slumber
I dream of running through a shower just for fun
