This week, we are launching 4 stories written by learners from St. John's, Newfoundland. As a special event you can read their stories as well as hear them.
In May 1988, Rabbitown Learners Program opened its doors as an Adult Basic Literacy Program in response to the need for upgrading by a group of community residents. Since 1999, they are providing both Basic Literacy and Level 1 curriculum, which includes such areas as : Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, Basic Computer Training and a wide range of Critical Skills. The uniqueness of their program is demonstrated through their interaction with other community agencies that they network with, thus providing an innovative and unique approach to literacy.
Amanda Peddle started the Rabbittown Learners Evening Program in July 2000. She then graduated to the full time day program in October 2000. She has made excellent progress over the past few.

Christmas is a good time of the year, you can call your family at Christmas. This will be my nephew's first Christmas. His name is Nicholas and he loves dogs.
Janine is my sister-in-law but she's more like a sister to me. My brother loves Christmas too. Another good friend of ours is Trevor, he comes by every Christmas to see us. My cousin had her picture taken with Santa Claus when she was a baby. My brother got a pool stick for Christmas. Nan and uncle William were sitting by the Christmas tree. When I was four years old, I got my first walking doll.
