Story of the Week

December 10, 2001

Photo of Stan Horsman

This week, we are launching 6 stories from the Adult Learning Centre in Courtenay, BC . As a special event you can read their stories as well as hear them.

The following two poems were written by Stan Horsman. He was born in France and lived in Europe for 6 years. He was a service "brat". Now he resides in Courtenay on Vancouver Island. Stan came to the Adult Learning Centre to upgrade his reading and writing, which will give him better life skills. He is a scout leader in the valley. Stan enjoys interacting with the other learners at the centre.

Fishing

by Stan Horsman

I enjoy fishing. It is relaxing and it is a good time to reflect on life. Lakes are a good place to go. Fishing is like Zen you cast out line on still water. The ripples are life. The reeling in is what you get out of life.

The Path That We Travel In Life

We are all on the same path but take different paths to get there. The sum of our experiences enrich us and we have a deeper understanding of self.

Like the saying we all beat to a different drum. It means the drum is like heart beat.

So let the drum beat on.
