Story of the Week: July 18, 2005 - Table of Contents

This week, we are launching 3 stories from Calgary, Alberta. Grace, Stephen, and Truc are students at Bow Valley College in Calgary. The College is situated in downtown Calgary, near the beautiful Bow River. They are in the Basic Education program of the Academic Foundations department. In this program, they are improving their reading and writing skills to prepare themselves for high school classes, skills training programs, or direct employment. The pace of the program is self-managed, and students attend classes six hours per week.

Bow Valley College has been a key provider of education and skills training in Southern Alberta for more than 40 years. More than 15,000 learners come to the College every year. Bow Valley offers credit and non-credit learning on a full and part-time basis -- on campus, in the community, in the workplace and through distance learning. They specialize in providing programs that help learners acquire and enhance their communication skills, living skills, and production skills.
