This week, we have a story written by Rosa Waldschlaeger, from Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Rosa is originally from Germany. She is enrolled in literacy classes at Parkland College in Yorkton. Rosa wrote this story as part of an exercise for ESL learners who are describing special days in their country.
When trees turn green, the birds sing and the sun shines, the preparations start for a celebration in Russia. The flags and banners are taken to the streets. The people put beautiful clothes on. They meet their friends and celebrate May 1st. They eat, drink and dance until night time.
