This week, we have a story written by Frances, from Woodstock, Ontario. Frances is enrolled in literacy classes at the Gateway to Learning Program, a part of the Thames Valley District School Board. The students in the literacy class worked together to write stories and prepare photos and images for a 2009 calendar.
I've learned to use a dictionary. I have learned to use the dictionary in the last two years. This has really helped me feel good about myself.
I love the big print dictionary. I can find lots of words in it. It can help me with spelling and understanding the words.
I can help my kids with their homework. I don't have to ask my teacher how to spell anymore.
When you use the dictionary you need to know the beginning letters of the word you want to find. The words in the dictionary are in alphabetical order.
Using the dictionary has helped me in so many ways. Everyone should learn how to use a dictionary.
