Story of the Week

October 19, 2009

This week, we have a story from North Bay, Ontario. The author, John T., is enrolled in literacy classes with the North Bay Literacy Council.

Reading is Good!

by John T.

This is a story about me. I could not read a book in my life until the Literacy Council. I said to myself at the time "I can't do it". I never thought I will ever learn to read in my life and I had no will to read, but 4 years later I know I can read and spell. My tutor Marcia Powell said to me "you can and you will".

So live by these words "you can and you will" and you will read. You will read a book, read to your child or read a newspaper. You will be proud of yourself. I'm in book 4 now and I'm proud of myself.

Thank you Marcia Powell! Thank you Literacy Council!
