This poem was written by Gregory, Brandon Correctional Institute, Manitoba.
There was one time
I imagined myself flying with the
Great Bald Eagle
High in the sky,
But my faith wasn't too strong.
I was too scared to fly high
With the great spirits
Who master the sky.
I had a wolf
His name was Wa-puss.
We lived in the wilderness for years.
We shared everything we had.
Wa-puss was a smart wolf.
We lived in burned wood area,
And I was only fifteen years old at the time.
I had to let Wa-puss go.
I was sad to let Wa-puss go.
Even now I sometimes still think of Wa-puss
Because he was a part of my life.
I had another dog,
I called him Wa-puss,
In memory of the wolf.
