This week, we have a story written by Nobuko Bansho, from Canmore, Alberta. Nobuko has lived in Canmore for five years. Louise, one of her tutors, tells her that her English reading and conversation are much better. She can also sing English songs. Now her new tutor, Jean Slagt, helps her learn prepositions and verb tenses. Every week, she also meets with Katie Grass, Kelly Davidson, Paul Greig and an international group of friends at Sherwood House in Canmore for coffee, tea and conversation.

Learning English

My name is Nobuko. My son is Ryota. We started to learn English at the Canmore library in January, 1997. Our tutor's name is Louise Schultz. We meet at the library on Tuesday afternoons. Sometimes we play games or make stories or read a book or look at pictures. We are enjoying learning English. We hope someday to talk English very well, and write too. I think we need more English conversation, and we wish to learn to sing an English song.
