My Trip to an Aboriginal Funeral Home

by Grace Bushie

Last Monday I went to Aboriginal Funeral Home. My friend and I went. I knew the family of the person who died. But the wake was very sad. I myself went through a lot I lost my brother and my grandson. People come there to sing gospel songs, and worship songs to comfort also a minister will come to read one, or two scriptures from the bible. People testify at the pulpit, to encourage one or another. It helps a lot, for other people that are listening. It gives them good memories of their loved one.

When you lose someone that you really love, your close family, or friends, you support and comfort them. They feel better, warm, comfortable, and loved. When a family loses a family member it’s sad. All we can do is pray for the family, give them all the support we can and encourage one another, and pray for one another.

I go to a wake and Funeral whenever I can. Every one of us feels the same way when we go through our loss. I can feel it. It is hard sometimes. It hurts when you think you don’t see the person anymore. You wonder where he or she went, will I ever see my loved one again. I believe there is heaven and hell. When a person dies their spirit still lives on we have soul, body, and spirit in our bodies.
