My Pets

My family and I, we have three pets - one cat, his name is Barney, one bird named Tweety, and one fish we named Golden Fish. We’ve had them for about five years.

Our cat Barney we got when he was small. I got him from my sister. Her husband and her were driving around looking for garage sales and this lady asked her if she wanted the kitten. She brought him to my home to give us. When he was a kitten he was so adorable and so we kept him. We named him Barney. We enjoy having him around. When my niece and nephew came to visit he would attack them when they tried to bother him. He doesn’t like strangers, he only likes people he knows well. He is so adorable when I look at him, and when he lays down I think he lays down like a human. Today he is big. He’s probably about five and a half years old. He spends most of his time outside. He only comes in for his food. We still enjoy our Barney.

Our bird we named him Tweety because his feathers are coloured yellow and a little bit green, just like Tweety on TV. I got Tweety from the pet store because my daughter wanted it for her birthday present. So I bought it for her. It cost around thirty dollars. We bought a birdcage to make him comfortable when he sits. The bird Tweety is always sitting in his cage. He does not like to be bothered. We let the bird Tweety fly around our home for exercise. He doesn’t like to fly, so he flies back toward to his cage. He only makes noise when he wants his food. 

When we got the fish, we first got three fish but two died. We still have one and he started to grow big. We bought a big tank for Goldey Fish. I named the fish Goldey because his skin is coloured orange. The people I know when they see the fish are amazed at how he grew big, because they saw the fish when he was small. I feed Goldey two times a day, but he wants more when I go near to his pond. Goldey wants attention, he waves his fin and splashes the water. Then I give him his food and he starts to eat it. Then Goldey swims around his fish tank. I just change the water when it gets dirty. I don’t use those fish machines.

We like our pets. Sometimes it is hard to clean their mess. The people I know say my home like a pet shop.
