A butterfly is just emerging from her cocoon. She uses all her strength and willpower to escape the dark damp home she has known for so long. Now free, her wings are still damp from the sticky cocoon and hard work. Her wings slowly extend gloriously on either side of her tiny body. As her wings dry, the colors become more vibrant and brighter. She is astonished to realize that she has become beautiful. She cries out, "I am not ugly any more!" I have become something people want to look at and touch. She was filled with such joy, and she had the desire to show the world the new her. The butterfly did not realize that now she had become a rare beauty, that people would want to possess her.
Soon after her first days of flight, she was caged and kept as a pet. The rest of her days were spent crying.
