Story of the Week

August 2, 1999

This week, our story comes to us from Whitehorse, Yukon. The author, Marlon O'Brien, is quite an avid writer. He also uses computers and E-mail on a regular basis at Yukon College in Whitehorse.

Rough Road of Reality

by Marlon O'Brien

I awoke thinking the road ahead of me was still new.
Although you may not be sure if your walk will ever end.
If you know where you are in this time,
You'll always know where you are the next time.
So now we are getting left behind by the rough road of reality.
With different degrees and levels of irony.
As the roads of reality show us the urban route,
This road of reality is a very curious adventure we must be ready to take.
This country is to rich and precious to give up,
And our people are too strong and willing to give that up.
We found out along the way that chaos is not the answer we are looking for.
A twist of fate might make this fight little easier along the way.
From the day you were born you where retreating to your daily jobs.
Waiting for the distress call to help you find the answers,
As a result of time your soul will cross over and over.
And you still try to find that same path that you took the last time;
Which is the rough road of reality....
