The following story was written by Henry, from Burlington, Ontario. Henry is enrolled in literacy classes at the Literacy Council of Burlington.
We humans are like ships on life’s ocean,
Different sizes, shapes and colour.
As we battle its elements we are blinded
By its beauty and tranquility,
Not knowing how long we will stay afloat or sink.
I, from where I was built,
Set sail into the unknown,
Anchoring here and there.
As the gentle breeze blows upon my sail,
A new day awaits me.
I am content with my cargo.
