The Story of Growing Up in Halifax

by Kenneth McDow

When I was a 10 year old boy living in the North End of Halifax, it was hard to grow up in the North End.

I went to school in the day time and came home after school and played with boys outside. We played baseball in the summer and played hockey in the winter months. I went to the movie show with my friends in the North End on Saturday afternoon. We mostly liked Westerns. I came home with my friends. My friends would come in my home and have a lunch with me and go home.

We had fun when I was young living in the North End.
