Here is Crystal H.'s story from Rabbittown Learners' Program, in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
My favorite time of year is Christmas time. I love to decorate my house. I have a lot of Christmas stuff to put up around the whole house. Tyler loves to help me to put up the tree and decorate it. I also love spending time with my family and friends. Christmas time always brings my family together. I love to give my friends and family presents especially Tyler. Christmas is so exciting when you have a small child because you have to tell them all about Santa Claus and tell them that he is real, but really the parents are the Santa Claus when they go to bed on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning I love to see Tyler's face light up when he sees his gifts and runs over to the tree to open all of them up.
I also love Christmas dinners, eating hot turkey sandwiches, cold plates, and lots of chocolate. I find that you gain weight this time of year because you go visiting your friends and family and you can't leave until you fill your stomach with something to eat. I also like to take my son sliding that is so much fun.
Another reason why this time of year is special for me is because December is the month that Tyler was born which is close to Christmas. We also celebrate Tyler's birthday in which he always wants to have at McDonald's because that is Tyler's favourite place to go.
