Story of the Week

January 30, 2006

Here is Ernie's story from Rabbittown Learners' Program, in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Christmas

Ernie M.

My favorite time of year is Christmas. I like getting together with my family and friends. We all sit at the table and have a big, old juicy turkey. It's when the turkey is nice and moist. I like seeing people at Christmas that I have not seen all year. We all sing songs with my guitar and laugh and joke around. I also like getting gifts and surprises. When I get a present in a box I shake it to guess what it is, if I do not break it.

Christmas is in the winter season and is a lot of fun. I like making snowmen. It is fun to slide in the snow. I also go to the pond and go skating and I hope I don't fall down. I love to go ice fishing in the winter. It is one of my favorite things to do and sometimes I catch 4 or 5 trout.

I love walking in the park on cool winter nights when the full moon is out and just a little bit of a breeze. That is another favorite thing to do. I enjoy having wiener roasts too and if the wiener is too hot I throw it in the snow.
