The Accident

by Anonymous

I went to work in the sawmill in the morning sometime in the fall about 31 years ago. It was a nice chilly day. You could smell the spruce trees.

The sawmill was 10 miles from White Court Alberta, 100 miles north of Edmonton. I was working in the edger. It is a machine that pushes the boards out of the barrier. I was working with another guy. He was French. He said something to me. I turned to see what he wanted, but my glove was caught in the boards. I could not get my glove out.

I lost part of my finger. I was not scared - I was in shock. I lost a lot of blood. I went to the hospital in White Court. They could not find the missing part of my finger. I only stayed overnight in the hospital. I went to stay with Annie, my sister for a few days.

I feel that this accident did not cause me much problems in my life.
