Story of the Week

January 30, 2006

Here is Ryan's story from Rabbittown Learners' Program, in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Happiest Time in my Life

by Ryan D.

The happiest time for me was when I talked to a man from the college about going to his school because I want to do auto body work. I have done it all my life. I am ready to go to college because I don't want to put my life on hold anymore. Being afraid to do it is not a good thing because not knowing if I can do it is very scary at times. Life has been a long fight with a lot of hardships. My life has turned around for me because I turned it around for myself. I wish to do it for myself because it is hard to live this way for along time. I want to be able to buy the things that I want and go to places I would like to go.

My life is going to be nice again without worries. My father and mother are proud of me . It is nice to share something with my dad that he has taken himself. As long as I can remember I have wanted to paint cars because I wanted to do what my dad has done all his life. I love learning from my dad he is the best and he is great at his job. Time is a good thing when it comes to school because it gives you time to realize what you want to do in life. But it can be bad because if you look at it you can be overwhelmed and you will make mistakes.

All my life I have had the time to look at the things I want to do so it is time to go for it.
