Progressing from group member to the group leader of the Bannerman Drop-In Center is just one of the significant steps Lori has taken, and recorded, as writer, songwriter, and singer, in her life. I'll try to reach down inside of me
and tell you what it is I feel.
But how can I make you understand
Fairytales just don't come true
Growing up can be so lonely
the feeling that you had denied
Living by the way its supposed to be
You learn to protect yourself in so many ways
You learn to hide everything that you feel
You learn that you'll do anything for love
When you're young and told to pretend
That everyone fits in a certain mold.
How can I have the feelings that are me
and feel unconditional love?
Everything you told me to be I've been
and deserve so much more
Living by the way its supposed to be
You told me that I couldn't think of myself
You listened if I told you what you wanted to hear
I felt like an empty shell needing love.
I'll try to be true to myself
and live the life I need to live
and make you understand it's only me.
Fairytales can come true, Fairytales can come true.
