Story of the Week

June 6, 2011

The following poem was written by Kristen Hepperle, from Calgary, Alberta.  Kristen is enrolled in the ABE class at Bow Valley College.  This class is inclusive, with students with and without disabilities working together at the grade 2-4 level on reading and writing.  Kristen has worked for several weeks on this story, editing until it feels right to her.

Beautiful spring time

by Kristen Hepperle

Spring is a good time to spend with family and friends.  It is a time to play outside with kids.  It feels good when you are surrounded by nature and by positive people

It is fun to go to parks and have picnics.  A lot of people like to go swimming and camping in the spring.  It’s fun to play on a trampoline with your kids

Besides spring fun there is work to do.  You can do lawn care, weeding or plant flowers. The fun part is when you see plants and flowers growing and blooming.

Animals are having babies and birds are building nests. Trees are budding, flowers are blooming and grass is growing.

Mother Nature is letting us know that spring is here.
