The following story was written by Ken Dean, from Woodstock, Ontario. Ken is a literacy student from the Thames Valley District School Board "Gateway to Learning" program. Ken is very excited about writing this essay. This is the first essay Ken has ever completed.
This past November 26th I took a cruise to the Caribbean. We were gone for a week. The people I went with were called Travel Partners. They take people with special needs on holidays. We met at Tim Hortons on close to the 401. I had to be there at 6:00 a.m. then we picked up more people.
We went to the airport for 8:00 a.m. and we were there for two hours. We almost missed the plane because two of the staff went to park the van, but they had trouble finding a parking space.
We were told to board but they just made it. That was good we all could leave together, it was a three hour flight, to Fort Lauderdale. It was a nice plane it had bucket-seats. We got there safe but when we were at customs we had to fill out a lot of forms which we were supposed to have done at home.
We got on the ship about 5:00 p.m. The ship travelled all night and we were on three different islands. On the islands we took bus tours and we shopped and saw big aquariums with lots of different fish and some baby sharks and octopus. I really like the guided tours.
The food on the boat was out of this world and I ate a lot. I forgot to tell you that we had theatres on the boats and entertainment and the screen for the movies at night was outside. If you are interested in the travel partners I will try and tell you about them the best I can. I hope to go on another travel partner trip soon.
