Story of the Week

This week, we have a story that comes to us from Canmore, Alberta. The author, Heechong (Toni) Oh, is originally from Seoul, South Korea. She has been enrolled in Literacy and ESL classes for about four years at Bow Valley College. Toni and her husband Tom have two sons - Kevin and Jason.
Korean Weddings

The Pe-bek is a special Korean wedding ceremony. It is after a traditional wedding.
Pe-bek is a ceremony for the bride. She introduces herself to the husband’s family.
The bride and groom offer drinks and bow deeply to each of the groom’s relatives.
The food on the table is a gift from the bride. It means fertility and prosperity.
The in-laws throw dates. They are wishing for many grandchildren.
