The following story was written by Garrett Bull Child, from Edmonton, Alberta. He is enrolled in literacy classes at The Learning Centre, in Edmonton. Garrett was born in Edmonton, and he has lived in Lethbridge, Alberta, New York, Vancouver and Regina
I was in my grandfather's place sleeping over night. He told me a story. He said, "You see the northern lights? The northern lights are the souls of our ancestors dancing in the air". When I see northern lights in the fall or spring it means our ancestors dance and are blessing mother earth. When I see the northern lights I say, "Hello my grandfather's in the northern lights too."
He past away in February 1988. I miss him sometimes but his soul dances in the northern lights with our ancestors.
