I Can Forget This Day in My Life

by Sinthuja

My name is Sinthuja. I came from Sri Lanka. My mother country had civil war in the past 21 years. In October 1995 we heard the emergency announcement that we have to move out of our city. We took some dresses and money but we didn't take food, we were planning we would buy the food from a restaurant. I went with my uncle's family. That day it was raining so much and windy that day in my city. The people were moving. There was so much traffic on the road everybody walked that day around 20 hours. We didn't have any food to eat and no drinks. That day became night. I lost my uncles family. At that time I was 14 years old and I started crying on the street because I didn't know anybody. The next morning I found my uncle and then I met my family. I can never forget this part of my life.
