The following story was written by Joe Laforge, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Joe is enrolled in literacy classes at Program READ in Sault Ste. Marie.

Bon Soo

by Joe Laforge

In February we celebrate Bon Soo in Sault Ste Marie. This winter cannival has been going on for many years.

We start with fireworks on opening night. There are snowshoe races, a dog pulling contest, pancake breakfast, bum slide, concerts, ice sculptures and lots more.

Bon Soo ends with a polar bear swim. They cut a hole in the ice and the brave souls go swimming. Afterwards they warm up in a sauna. Bon Soo is lots of fun every year.
