This week, we have a story written by Wayne S., from Orillia, Ontario. Wayne is a friendly, helpful, caring person with a good sense of humour. He is enrolled in literacy classes with the Barrie Literacy Council. Wayne likes to help people in the classroom and is a hard worker. His hobbies are darts, bowling, playing miniature golf and making candles. He volunteers his time doing the Bingo for the Big Sisters, the Legion and Hospice.
Gary's class and Joy's class came to the Literacy Council to make candles. We learned that candles are made from melted wax. Some people put flowers, apple slices, or cinnamon sticks in the candle mold before pouring wax in the mold to make decorated candles.
Elly made a Lily of the Valley candle. Joanne combined Lily of the Valley scented wax with Apple Cinnamon decoration. John and I made Apple Cinnamon candles.
We enjoyed making the candles, and they all look terrific!
We also enjoyed chili and pop after making the candles.
Thank you Bev and Gary!
