Top Canadian Native Model 2007- 2008

Miss Chelsea Tail Feathers from the Kainai (Blood) Reserve won the western finals for top Native Model. Chelsea went onto compete December 1 in Toronto to win the title of the Top Native Canadian Model.

Chelsea is 19 years old. Currently, she is residing in Calgary, Alberta, where she is attending the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Chelsea is studying in the Petroleum Land Administration program.

In 2005-2006, Chelsea attended the Aaksii-stoo-wakiiks meaning “Women of Strength” program, which was developed by Stardale. The program took place at the Kainai High School and the Health Centre. Stardale had created a mentoring program, whereby peer mentors were established to work closely in building relationships with other girls. Chelsea was chosen as a peer mentor. Her gentleness, conviction to learn and to share her new found teachings was apparent by all who knew her. Stardale programming teaches respect of traditional values and culture, community sense of ownership, and recognition and respect for protocol. Chelsea embodied all the components of the program teachings.

We are honoured that she received the title of Top Native Canadian Model for 2007 -2008. Chelesa is an exemplar role model for all the other young Aboriginal girls. We support and wish her the greatest success in her up and coming pagents.

If you are interested in meeting Chelsea to have her speak to students, participate in an event or model, please contact Stardale @ (403) 243-6615.
