IAP planning & support group interventions for the survivors of Indian Residential Schools

In addressing the GAPs for those survivors of residential schools, who have been severely sexually/physically abused, Stardale is offering a full range of information workshops. These workshops have an extensive wrap-around in services that are client focused.

Included are potential topics:

  1. Financial planning for the use of your award

    • Family budgeting

    • Protecting your money, when you receive your IAP compensation

    • RCMP supports

    • Wills and estates under the Indian Act

    • Dealings on accounts & dealings with banks

    • Making sure you do not pay out too much money for a lawyer

    • Understanding how the legal fees are paid under the IAP

    • Selecting the right lawyer

  2. Filling out the forms accurately and appropriately

    • Legal services provided by a firm involved with the Residential school cases for the past 10 years

  3. Support Groups

  4. Examples of recent presentations are:

    • Provincial Traditional Healing Gathering - Cowessess First Nation, in partnership with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, Eagle Health Office, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Health Canada, Service Canada, Regina Chamber of Commerce, and Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services ( Regina, Sask.)

    • Federal / Provincial / Municipal / Aboriginal Roundtable Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement Agenda ( Calgary, Alta.)
