The Yarns of Ishmael Drake
With funding assistance from the National Literacy Secretariat, Teachers on Wheels has produced The Yarns of Ishmael Drake, based on a series of radio productions for the C.B.C. Radio School Broadcasts.
Ishmael Drake is a fictional elder, the keeper and guardian of his community’s oral heritage. He speaks of the history and folklore of his people in all its colour, poetry, mystery and fascination.
Each booklet is accompanied with an audiocassette and includes text comprehension questions, suggested activities, and a glossary.
A limited number of these sets are available for organizations engaged in the delivery of literacy services.
