National Adult Literacy Database

Literacy NL is a grassroots network of individuals and community-based groups committed to advancing literacy and lifelong learning in the province. The group works with members and partners to connect learners to programs and support; help literacy groups share ideas, information and resources; raise public awareness about literacy issues; and foster partnerships with all sectors.

Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council is a provincial, non-profit volunteer organization that is committed to raising the literacy level of Newfoundland society.

The Peter Gzowski Invitationals (PGIs) for Literacy were founded by the late Canadian broadcaster and journalist Peter Gzowski. His goals were to raise much-needed resources for the thousands of adult learners who struggle with the challenge of low literacy, and have a lot of fun in the process. Held annually in every province and territory, the PGIs have raised more than $12 million net since 1986.

The Centre for Literacy is a pan-Canadian, Montreal-based centre of expertise in the areas of adult literacy and essential skills. It supports best practices and informed policy development in literacy by creating bridges between research, policy and practice.

Literacy in Action is a not-for-profit organization servicing Estrie, located in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The organization helps individuals engage in volunteer-based literacy work, and provides training, materials, free one-on-one tutoring, and small group lessons to adults, 17 years of age and older, in basic education and lifelong learning.
