National Adult Literacy Database

The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) has established a database that provides examples of effective literacy and numeracy programmes worldwide. This new Effective Practices Database supports the role of UNESCO – and in particular UIL – as a clearinghouse in the field of adult literacy and numeracy.

The Deaf Literacy Initiative is a provincial umbrella organization that provides accessible and culturally relevant training, research, networking and resources to the deaf and deaf-blind literacy community in Ontario.

Decoda Literacy Solutions is the new provincial literacy organization for British Columbia. It brings together the work, experience and expertise of Literacy BC and the literacy department of 2010 Legacies Now. Decoda’s vision is a culture of community-based learning and literacy that supports the full continuum of priorities that have been identified by communities – from early childhood to family, adult, workplace and emerging literacies.

This site is designed to assist Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Program delivery agencies in Ontario to develop and apply learning outcomes demonstrations.

DALA is dedicated to adult learners and cares about the community. It consists of The Education Centre, providing an adult school setting for people wanting to attain their grade 12 to obtain a better job or to go on to College or University, and a Career Resource Centre, which assists people with career options and job information.

A comprehensive database containing Canadian research in adult literacy from 1994, as well as research in progress.

This online resource was prepared by the Premier’s Council on the Status of Disabled Persons. Updated regularly, the directory can be viewed both alphabetically and by subject. The website includes links associated with employment, apprenticeship and education.

The Discovery Centre offers free Adult Basic Education and the opportunity to complete high school at seven Newfoundland locations.

The Dublin Adult Learning Centre is an organisation devoted to adult literacy in the greater Dublin region. At the centre there are such things as student publications, an in house newsletter, courses for learners, volunteers and tutors.
