The mandate of the UFCW Local 247 Training Centre is to provide the tools and the opportunity necessary for workers to achieve their full potential in the workplace and to invest in lifelong learning. It was the first accredited training centre for union members in Canada, now with membership centres in New Westminster and Kelowna and two other centres in Prince George and Fort Saint John.

The mandate of this organization is to benefit employers, individuals and government by advising how improved employment and skills systems can help the U.K. become a world-class leader in productivity, in employment and in having a fair and inclusive society − all this in an ever-changing global economy.

Its activities in education are dedicated to serving teachers, administrators, scholars, policy-makers and all other people engaged in or concerned with education. In the broadest sense, this includes all of us, for education, whether we realize it or not, is the force that will, more than any other, shape the future.

The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning is one of six educational institutes of UNESCO. It is a non-profit international research, training, information, documentation and publishing centre on literacy, non-formal education, adult and lifelong learning.

UFCW Canada’s national training and education department offers up-to-date, relevant and job-specific training. Facilitators have the ability to keep members informed about the most recent challenges and changes workforce membership may be facing. UFCW training ranges from hands-on skills upgrades to basic skills such as literacy, English as a second language and computer foundations.

UNA-Canada is a national non-profit organization promoting UN programmes and activities within Canada. The Association offers individual Canadians a window into the work of the UN, and a channel through which to become engaged in the critical international issues affecting us all.

This Friendship Centre is dedicated to enhancing the lives of native and non-native people in the community of Fort Frances and surrounding area. Its primary responsibility is to serve Aboriginal people with special services in the fields of social, educational and cultural development while, at the same time, building a bridge of understanding between native and non-native people.

Uniterra is an international voluntary program jointly operated by CECI and WUSC. Unterra is active in 13 countries. Uniterra’s target is to reduce world poverty by half by 2015. Basic education or literacy is one of the six sectors in which partners and volunteers are engaged.

U.S.A. Learns is an outgrowth of a project conceived by the U.S. Department of Education’s adult education and literacy division. The website will help you learn English or improve the basic reading, writing, speaking and problem-solving skills you need to be a productive worker, family member and citizen.
