This website looks at the learning paths of workers with low literacy skills in different types of workplace education programs across Canada. The site features seven case studies written by field researchers and whose stories represent the relatedness of formal and informal training for workers with low skills. The section Fostering Partnership Development examines strategies used to engage business, labour, literacy practitioners and provincial/ territorial governments.

Partners in Employment is a not-for-profit organization that assists people in Huron and Perth counties to find and keep employment. The organization has three employment resource centres: Stratford, Listowel and St.Marys, and offers a one-on-one job search service throughout Huron and Perth counties.

PBS LiteracyLink

LiteracyLink’s goal is to provide a link for underserved and hard-to-reach adults and their teachers to quality adult basic education and GED preparation tools using technology. Combining video, the Internet, and print materials, LiteracyLink programs are relevant to the needs of the individual learner, adult instructional programs and the workforce. The workplace essential skills online component has 24 free online lessons/activities, each of which includes a video clip supported by its objective, key ideas and follow-up.
